A new all-Italian production, directed by Chiara Noschese respecting the original script: A Chorus Line tells the story behind the scenes of a theatre show, showing the commitment, the effort, the dreams and the sacrifice of those who desperately want to make it. It is a work of theatre within theatre: on stage, a group of hopeful dancers audition. They are all ready to be judged by director Zach to win a line role in the upcoming production, telling and sharing their stories with him.
A musical originally conceived by director and choreographer Michael Bennett, who first staged it on Broadway on 25 July 1975, where it ran for 15 years with a total of 6,137 performances. The show caused such a stir that it was dubbed the “King of the Musicals”, winning nine Tony Awards, an Olivier Award for Best Musical and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Later, in 1985, Columbia Pictures released the film version, directed by Richard Attenborough and starring Michael Douglas as Zach.
